SEAL(Social and Emotional aspects of Learning)

On Monday and Tuesday we look forward to Dad’s Day, where we welcome any dad’s that have signed up into school to spend the morning or afternoon doing lots of fun activities with your child. Mr Bird has some creative and physical activities planned for you to do for half the session. The other will be spent in class helping your child to design, label and make their own large boat. This will be our main literacy activity this week.

On Wednesday, the children will be investigating different types of technology. They will have the opportunity to follow a simple program online, program a bee bot to find treasure, write a sentence or story on texttease, taking photos using the Ipads and play number games. Some of the games that will be having a go at are below:

Throughout the week, we will also be looking at stories that teach us something in RE, including The Hare and the Tortoise, The Boy who Cried Wolf, Best Friends and The Lost Sheep. On Thursday we will be discussing the meaning of these stories and the lesson learnt from them. We will be sequencing and writing the story of The Lost Sheep as well as thinking about our best friends and why they are important to us.

Creative activities through the week will include charcoal pictures, painting and junk box modelling

On coming into school every morning, the children will complete a variety of tasks to support their fine motor skills and weekly learning including letter practise, shepherd and sheep stick puppets, and one more / one less activity sheet to show us how much they have learnt from their learning last week.

Guided reading books will be given out on Tuesday this week because of timetable changes due to Dad’s day. Your child will change their reading books, world lists and maths challenges on their reading day. As Friday is an Inset day, Fridays readers will be heard through the week. There will be no PE this week due to the timetable change so please encourage your child to bring their PE kit home for the holidays to be washed.

Thank you for your support,

Julie Doyle and Jenny Timms
